Le Festival d'Ete among other things

So since I last posted, we have seen Elton John, Girl Talk, and The Black Keys in concert, we toured the Universite of Laval, and we went shopping in 3 different gigantic malls. Not a bad weekend. The Elton John concert was just okay. We only went to say we went, but I have literally never seen so many people in one place in my life. EVER. These pictures don’t do it justice.

Sunday, Hannah Rachel and I woke up early and walked to a nearby café to have croissants and coffee. Afterwards, Drew took us on the bus to the Universite of Laval. We took the scenic tour of the campus before heading to the mall to eat and shop. For lunch, we stuck to the basics. Subway J.

We then window shopped for about 2 hours. This mall consisted of 3 huge malls that are right next to each other. We shopped at a place called Zellers, which is kindof like a mix between Wal-Mart and Target. I went in planning to buy laundry detergent and only came out with a mini hairspray. While walking back to meet our group, we stopped to get ice cream. I have never spent so much on one small scoop of ice cream. 4 dollars for one scoop is pretty ridiculous.

Yesterday afternoon, Andrew and Drew took us to a super market that was “supposed” to be near by, but took 30 minutes to walk to. Hannah Rachel and I stocked up on bread, peanut butter, Pringles, bananas, Wheat Thins, and Canada Dry. We then had to walk back up, carrying our groceries, the steepest hill I have ever walked up. I will not be making that mistake again.

Last night, we tried Chez Ashon for the first time. Chez Ashton is the Canadian version of McDonald’s. I ordered poutine, which is a very popular Canadian dish. It consists of French fries, cheese curds, and gravy, and it is absolutely amazing. I will definitely being going back. A lot.

After eating dinner, we started walking to the concert and it started to rain. We stopped and purchased some cheap ponchos, so we could make ourselves look even more like tourists.

We got to the concert and sat down just in time for the beginning of Girl Talk. It was just as good as when he came to the Hump at State. Compared to the Elton John concert, there was no one at Girl Talk. We enjoyed it because we could actually sit down in a place where we could see the stage and not a mile away.

During the concert, it began to rain really hard and started lightning really bad. We quickly made our way to the closest McDonald’s to wait for it to stop. After waiting for a while, we walked back just in time for The Black Keys. It was pouring down rain, but their concert was amazing. Plus, it was more enjoyable because not as many people were there.

Overall, I would say we had a pretty good night.
